State of Youth, 2007-08
With funding from Fulbright for a research grant on contemporary youth culture as Vietnam was joining the WTO, this series undertook to discover any signs or symbols of Western popular culture within the largest demographic in the country’s growing population. Over the course of many months, the view broadened to include young people in other socio-economic groups, drawing more subtle distinctions within the same complex group, many with no connection to or interest in the West and its cultural offerings.
